Cravings Project
I would love to hear about your experiences with food cravings!
I have spent the last three years researching food cravings through a physiological, psychological, and medical lens. Now, I want to enrich that data with lived stories and experiences. I would love for you to share your experiences with food cravings; how you experience them and how your life has been shaped because of them. My hope is that this turns into a book to provide those of us that have lived with food cravings a deeper understanding of where they come from, provide a sense of normalcy and community, and give us a better understanding of ourselves.
A food craving is an intense desire to eat that is separate from physical hunger. It could be focused around one specific food or just a intense desire to eat in general. Physical hunger is a physical need for food/energy and may present similarly to cravings but are usually tied to feelings of belly growling, low energy, feeling “hangry”. Some of this questionnaire will guide you to differentiate between the two. Food cravings are different from general overeating, for our purposes, by a preoccupation with completing the craving i.e. do you feel a sense of anxiety or discontent if the craving is not pursued.
Please take a few moments to fill out the form. You may learn things about yourself as well as provide insight that will help others.
